Bad management, absolutely unprofessional.

Some of the teachers were amazing. I was active in helping the school with different things and my kids were at LIS from the very beginning and were there for 5 years. I had to take them away because it was so horrible.

All they care about is reputation, I was sharing my honest opinion using facebook messenger with a potential parent there and that person forwarded my messages to the head of the parents association (they did have one at that time). I stand by every word I wrote. Then the husband of the head of the parent association came to me and told me that I was not allowed to say anything bad about the school. Then one of the management came and asked me if I was the one spreading out rumours. At that time I got seats for my kids to another school so after the incident I immediately accepted the seats and moved my kids out of this misery. My kids did a lot better in the new school.

One of my kids didn't like to do his homework and the only thing I got from LIS was 3 weeks after the deadline saying that he got a 0. I didn't resent that and as a matter of fact my kid deserved that. I was glad that I was told but why 3 weeks later? I found out he was missing homework like a pro after they started in the new school because I got 5 emails a day from teachers saying that he didn't hand in his homework, and he was put into a learning help with a teacher helping him how to do time management.

Another kid was struggling at LIS as there was no structure, her grades weren't good but after we moved her to the other school she was happy and got very good grades.

Before that a parent wrote to everyone in the class about the teacher and a few of the parents were summoned into the head's office and were asked if we were part of this.

Another incident was when a teacher shared a whole class development report with me through google drive. Instead of trying the fix the issue (which is an easy fix), he was asking another parent for the name of the person who has the information.

When I raised an issue at a parent association meeting (mixing US English with British English), instead of saying that we will have to set a policy to fix it, the teacher said, "Is there a problem now?" I said. "no". She said, " if there is no problem, what is the problem?" This is not about fixing an issue, but to prevent and set up a proper system on how to deal with it when it is an issue.

No idea what the lunch is like now but it was bad. My children were starving daily and I tried their famous lunch and it was pretty bad. The chef is part of the school board at that time.

I am still in touch with some former employees and they are all unhappy about the school (hence the reason they left LIS).

Things may have changed since so do your duo diligence before picking the right school for your child(ren).

Best School Hands Down

I've seen some comments here addressing bullying, I cannot speak for others but I would like to share our experience. My daughter was being bullied at this school by class mates. She told no one because she is very proud. However, she didn't have to. One of her teachers noticed it and addressed it straight away. The school leadership got involved and handled the issue properly and correctly. The bullying stopped immediately. It was an incredible experience.

Further, my child has been at several schools and in different systems and countries and, hands down, LIS is the best school we've experienced. In fact, it is the school by which we judge all others. LIS prepares children perfectly for the rigors of the DP and subsequently for university both in breadth and depth. If you, as a parent, do your part in supporting your child and your child is academically minded then this is most definitely a worthwhile school. Your child will learn that they are ultimately responsible for their own education and that they have the capacity to be great students, while being guided and supported by the school team. Make no mistake, they will be challenged academically - this is the IB system after all! I often ask my daughter to remember what she knew before starting at LIS and how much the school has expanded her mind and body of knowledge and she's always amazed. The staff are just incredible, they work so hard and put everything into the kids. If you want your child to thrive academically and your child is thoughtful, conscientious and curious, then this is absolutely the school for your family. It's truely wonderful and we'll always be so very grateful for our time there.

LIS Lunds International School Bullying & Ineffective Teaching

A Disheartening Educational Experience: LIS Lunds International School Failing to Address Bullying and Ineffective Teaching

Summary:
LIS Lunds International School, once thought to be a promising educational institution, has become deeply flawed, as it fails to address the critical issue of bullying while also displaying a lack of understanding on effective teaching and learning methodologies. The school's pedagogic standards are severely lacking, leaving students to be rushed through subjects without grasping essential skills and knowledge. The absence of clear objectives and improvisation in teaching further exacerbate the problem. SPTA meetings offer no substantial resolutions and merely serve as a superficial formality. The school administration and teachers at LIS Lunds International School display a concerning tendency to blame students and parents for any shortcomings, deflecting responsibility for their own inadequacies. This toxic cycle persists without any acknowledgement or remorse.

Review:

LIS Lunds International School, once considered a promising international educational institution, has proven to be deeply disappointing in its current state. The school's inability to address bullying is a significant cause for concern. Despite the importance of a comprehensive anti-bullying program, LIS Lunds International School appears to be oblivious to the detrimental effects of bullying on students' mental and emotional well-being.

Moreover, the teaching methods employed by the faculty at LIS Lunds International School are woefully inadequate. Despite being an international school, the teachers lack the pedagogical expertise necessary to effectively impart knowledge to their students. Consequently, students are hurried through subjects without gaining a proper understanding of the material, hindering their overall learning experience and depriving them of the skills needed for real-world applications.

A lack of clear educational goals and objectives further plagues the institution. LIS Lunds International School seems to operate in a state of perpetual improvisation, lacking structure and direction. This approach not only confuses teachers but also leaves students without a clear path to academic success.

The shortcomings of SPTA meetings at LIS Lunds International School are particularly disheartening. Instead of serving as a platform for meaningful discussions and actionable solutions, these meetings have devolved into mere formalities. The failure to address critical issues at these meetings demonstrates the school's inability to handle serious matters affecting its students' well-being.

Perhaps most distressing is the recurring pattern of blame-shifting within LIS Lunds International School. Rather than taking responsibility for their actions or lack of action, the school's administration and teachers shamelessly shift the blame onto students and parents. This lack of accountability undermines the school's integrity and perpetuates a toxic environment.

In conclusion, LIS Lunds International School, which once held promise as an international educational institution, has regrettably fallen short of expectations. Its failure to address bullying and its lack of effective teaching methods hinder students' academic and personal growth. The absence of clear goals and the refusal to accept responsibility for shortcomings make LIS Lunds International School an unsuitable choice for parents seeking a nurturing and supportive educational environment for their children.

Old fashioned.

Quite simply like the old fashioned British Grammar School system. Strict, ancient and teachers are inexperienced with modern teaching. Coordinators are Prehistoric in their methods and how they yrear students. Conclusions... old fashioned, strict with sub standard teaching methods.

Unfortunately not good

Bad administration/management, some teachers are fantastic while others are bad.
Unfortunately they have teachers that don’t know a lot of pedagogy, don’t have teacher education and have bad accent which is not very helpful for the younger students that still don’t know sufficient English. The curriculum is to fast in PYP1-6. To much homework from 1 and every Friday they even have homework over the weekend. They miss good methods on teaching and speed over all different subjects to fast. They rush the students to much in early age and stress them too much. They even give bad grades when kids don’t write cursive?! It seems it’s more important how forward they are than what actually the students learn. Also I’m wondering how good the teachers are with all the homework. We would like to switch school but unfortunately there are just one English speaking school in Lund that we can choose according to our municipal so until all our three kids can switch to IES we unfortunately have to stay at LIS since we are not Swedish speaking and will stay in Sweden four more years.
